Garmin's product description page introduces the GPS device's features and functionality which shows why Garmin is the product to get, "All in one, Garmin is the ONE". NUVI, an in-car-GPS device developed by Garmin, provides detailed maps and directions to places of interest that comes with complimentary lifetime updates. Voice activated navigation, wifi and bluetooth are built in to allow users to navigate and answer calls safely hands-free.
NUVI allows users to tell them the full address before navigation, replies interactively to remind users that their hands can remain safely on the wheel. It also comes with a magnetic cradle that charges device when plugged in. An integrated driving recorder backups indisputable evidence in the event of accidents that can be viewed on a laptop.
Nuvi 4592 LM allows rerouting of path on-the-go, diverting the driver away from traffic, avoiding specific routes/tolls, sorts multiple destinations. It also has unique features such as predicting the driver’s favourite route (myTrends) and can even suggest eco-friendly routes (ecoRoute).
In TomTom’s product review page, it tells us about what to expect from the product, its functionalities and bugs. TomTom GO Live 1535M, a product developed by TomTom, provides several location searching applications such as Yelp, Expedia, Trip Advisor and Google. GO Live 1535M is also integrated with voice activated navigation and Bluetooth but there is no Wi-fi. The preview of traffic, fuel and speed cameras along the route are also integrated in the maps.
GO Live 1535M is able to recommend places of interests determined by home address, destination of the current route or city of choice. Setting destinations are also made easier with voice commands. GO Live 1535M is also capable of posting tweets on Twitter, with a touch of a button, to allow others to know your location and the estimated time of arrival. TomTom also links the GPS to a mobile application, MyDrive, which allows consumers to access their GPS.
Although they are similar in several ways, the differences between the Nuvi 4592 LM and TomTom GO Live 1535M are clear. Some differences would be that the Nuvi product has lifetime updates, built in wifi, and is able to divert drivers away from traffic or routes/tolls while The TomTom product is built in with several location searching applications and can be controlled with a mobile application and is able to post tweets.
Singaporeans spend an average of 9 hours a week, based on a survey done by research agency 2CV and motor insurance company DirectAsia. With Nuvi 4592 LM’s ability to divert drivers away from traffic or routes/tolls, it would be a better product compared to the TomTom GO 1535M.
